A deep plane facelift is the ideal facial rejuvenation procedure, and many patients want to know how much this transformational surgery will cost. This blog discusses national averages, local Miami averages, and what goes into the cost of a deep plane facelift.

Average Cost of a Deep Plane Facelift

The cost of a deep plane facelift ranges from $18,000 to $40,000, although this can vary significantly, with some plastic surgeons charging upwards of $100,000. This significant range in pricing is largely due to the customized nature of the procedure, as well as other contingent factors that affect the total price.

What Determines the Cost of a Deep Plane Facelift?

There are a variety of factors that make up the final cost of a deep plane facelift: the surgeon’s fees, facility fees, and anesthesia fees. In fact, the final price of any cosmetic procedure incorporates these broad factors.

Surgeon’s Fee (AKA Surgical Fee)

This is what can be considered the cost of the procedure itself; it varies depending on the specifics of the surgical plan and the type of procedure. Tummy tucks and deep plane facelifts will have different surgeons’ fees, for example. Furthermore, surgeons’ fees vary from surgeon to surgeon, as this is partly their take-home compensation. Surgeons with more experience or prestige will typically command higher rates than those with less experience or prestige.

However, the full amount of the surgical fee doesn’t go straight into the surgeon’s pocket. This part of the cost also helps cover office overhead, including salaries for office staff and other business-related expenses. Geography can be an influential factor in this way, as plastic surgery practices in larger metropolitan areas with higher cost-of-living expenses will likely require higher surgical fees.

Facility Fees

The facility fees cover the cost of performing the surgery, either in an ambulatory surgical center or in a hospital operating room. Many surgeons hold hospital privileges at local hospitals, so the facility fee is applied toward any costs associated with using those facilities, including payment to hospital nursing staff and other miscellaneous expenses.

Surgeons who operate their own on-site ambulatory surgical centers can charge a slightly lower facility fee, as surgeries are performed in-house. This fee will also fluctuate based on the complexity of the procedure. For example, some minimally invasive procedures can be performed in the office and do not require a hospital stay.

Anesthesia Fees

The anesthesia fee is the cost of administering either general or local anesthesia. This also contributes to the anesthesiologist’s fees. Procedures that only require a local anesthetic are generally less expensive than those that require general anesthesia.

How Much Is a Deep Plane Facelift in Miami?

Due to the above factors, the cost of a deep plane facelift in Miami varies, but patients can expect to pay between $15,000 and $60,000.

What Is the Benefit of a Deep Plane Facelift?

Deep plane facelifts are the gold standard of facial rejuvenation, taking the results of a traditional facelift to the next level. Rather than lifting the superficial layers of skin, a deep plane facelift releases and repositions the platysma muscle and SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) to rejuvenate the neck, jawline, cheeks, and nasolabial folds. The benefits of a deep plane facelift include:

  • More comprehensive treatment of facial aging
  • Includes treatment of the neck
  • A more natural look, not “done” or “pulled”
  • Long-lasting results due to the revision of deeper structures

The deep plane facelift is a more complex procedure, requiring the expertise of an experienced surgeon. All of these factors are why you’ll see deep plane facelifts at a higher price point than traditional facelifts, but the results are well worth it.
